As we head into our twelfth month of Coronavirus restrictions, human connection has never been so important – which is why we have created our Meet The Team series. This week, Associate Vice President, Kylie Bawden tells us more about which podcasts have helped lift her spirits in lockdown, what she’s planning on doing once restrictions are lifted and the power of TikTok.
What brings you joy?
I’m a 100% walking cliché but since the pandemic began I’ve found the smallest of things bring the most joy. For me these include endless podcasts, some of my favourites: Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware, Rob Beckett and Josh Widdicombe’s lockdown parenting hell, Rosie and Chris Ramsey, Shagged, Married, Annoyed and Jules and Sarah the podcast. I’ve found being subscribed to a weekly podcast series provides a feeling of equilibrium in what is currently an utterly bonkers time for everyone.
I’m also a huge advocate of the ‘To me, from me’ gift, Etsy has provided me with endless access to gorgeous gorgeous things that I didn’t know I needed, but now own. Most of my lockdown presents to myself can be found on Instagram stories, although the best purchase of the since the beginning of the pandemic has to be the gin shelf!
What are you looking forward to this year?
Although things feel a little rocky at the moment I truly believe there is so much to look forward to. I cannot wait for hugs, long boozy brunches with my best friends, lazy summer Sunday afternoons in a pub garden, campervan roadtrips, visiting Dartmouth and finally getting to the gorgeous Dartmouth Gin Distillery and finally see all of my fabulous FINN Travel Family. It’s been so so long since we’ve all been together and so much has happened, I can’t wait for the much needed (possibly wine fuelled) team debrief.
What key trend should we keep an eye on this year?
The TikTok Influence – despite not being the demographic for TikTok at all, I’m utterly obsessed with the leaps the platform has made in influencing consumer decision making as well as informing top level executives and essentially changing people’s lives. Take the recent Sea Shanty craze – it blows my mind that a Postie from Scotland now has a record deal with one of the biggest record labels in the world and it all started with him posting TikTok videos of him singing sea shanties.
