It’s that time of the week again to meet the team. This week, Vice President, Jane Richards shares with us her love for the great outdoors and how she’s longing for a cold glass of white wine with friends in a pub garden…
What brings you joy?
Apart from family of course, I’m a bit of a country girl and hiking was one of my hobbies pre-lockdown; this has really come into its own during the past year. It sounds really cheesy but it brings me joy to walk for miles off road, I love a stream or brook, wildflowers, spotting wild animals like deer and unusual birds like the elusive kingfisher. I’ve worn out a pair of walking boots and discovered so many trails on my doorstep but thank goodness for google maps!
What are you looking forward to this year?
I’m really looking forward to going into a shop and trying on clothes (not buying online and then sending back) and having somewhere to wear them! I’m really looking forward to meeting more than one friend at a time – a few friends, outside in a pub garden, cold glass of white wine and that will be bliss! Even before we can travel on holiday the restriction on just staying local will be lifted and I’m looking forward to visiting friends, who’ve been just that little bit too far away to see, even outside for a walk. Then of course getting on an aircraft and going ANYWHERE!!
What key trend should we keep an eye on this year?
Continuing the nature theme, I think the awareness raised during lockdown of the simple pleasure of discovering nature on the doorstep and non-gym health and fitness interests will continue into an uptrend for UK hiking and activity holidays this year and further afield next.
